Wi-Fi setup

Wi-Fi that reaches the shed and does not drop out

The router the telco posted you was designed for a two-bedroom flat. An office with a workshop behind it needs more thought than plugging it in and hoping.

Included from the Starter plan

Melbourne-based, on the ground across the south-east and northern suburbs, with support in Canberra and remote setup Australia-wide.

Wi-Fi problems get blamed on the internet connection about ninety per cent of the time, and about ninety per cent of the time that is wrong. A single router sitting under a desk at one end of a brick building was never going to cover the workshop. The fix is usually placement and a mesh point, not a faster plan.

The problem

What usually goes wrong

One router, wrong place

Sitting where the phone socket happens to be, behind a filing cabinet, at the far end of the building.

Blaming the internet plan

Upgrading to a faster connection changes nothing if the signal cannot get through two brick walls.

Factory admin password

A router still on admin/admin is the single easiest way into a small business network.

Everyone on the same network

Customers, visitors and staff phones all sharing the network your accounting software sits on.

What you get

What business wi-fi & network setup includes

Coverage worked out first

We map where you actually need signal — office, shed, yard — before recommending any hardware.

Router configured properly

Admin password changed, firmware updated, channels set to avoid your neighbours, WPA3 or WPA2 enforced.

Mesh where it is needed

Extra access points placed to cover the workshop or the yard, on one network name so devices roam without dropping.

A separate guest network

Visitors and customer phones kept off the network your business data sits on.

Devices connected

Computers, printers, phones, EFTPOS and any cameras joined and tested.

Written down

Network names, passwords and admin details recorded somewhere you can find them in a year.

How it works

Four steps, and you are live

  1. 01

    Describe the site

Building size, construction, where the connection comes in and where the signal needs to reach.

  2. 02

    Hardware recommendation

We tell you what to buy, if anything. Often the existing router just needs moving and configuring.

  3. 03

    Configure and place

Router and any mesh points set up, secured and positioned. On site in Melbourne, or guided remotely elsewhere.

  4. 04

    Test everywhere

We walk the site checking signal in the places you actually work, not just next to the router.

FAQ

Business Wi-Fi & Network Setup — common questions

No, you buy it so the warranty is yours. We tell you exactly what to get, and often the answer is a single mesh point rather than replacing anything.

It will make it faster where you currently get a poor signal, which is usually what people mean. It cannot exceed the speed of the connection coming into the building.

We configure remotely anywhere in Australia and guide you through placement over a call. Physical installation on site is Melbourne south-east and northern suburbs, with support available in Canberra.

That is the most common reason people call. Usually a mesh point or an outdoor access point solves it. Long runs across a yard sometimes need a cable, and we will say so rather than sell you something that will not work.

So a customer’s phone, or a visitor’s laptop with something nasty on it, cannot see the computer your invoicing runs on. It takes five minutes to set up and removes an entire category of risk.
