Start My Tradie ("we", "us", "our") builds and maintains websites, email, CRM and booking systems for Australian trade and service businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. Information we collect

From enquiries

When you submit our enquiry form we collect your name, business name, phone number, email address, industry, the plan you're interested in, and anything you write in the message field.

From customers

To build and run your systems we collect business details such as your ABN, trading name, service list, service area, logo and images, domain details, and the contact details of people authorised to act for your business.

Automatically

Our website uses Google Analytics, which collects anonymised usage data such as pages visited, approximate location, device type and referral source. We do not use this data to identify individuals.

2. Why we collect it

3. Your customers' data

Where your website, CRM or booking system collects information about your customers, you are the owner of that data. We store and process it on your behalf as a service provider. We do not sell it, mine it, or use it for our own marketing. On request, or when you leave, we will provide an export of that data.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers needed to deliver your systems — including hosting, email, domain registration, analytics, payment processing and backup storage providers. Each is bound by their own privacy obligations. We do not sell personal information to anyone, ever.

We may disclose information where required by Australian law, a court order, or a lawful request from a government agency.

5. Storage and security

Data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), access controls, and daily off-site backups. Some providers may store data outside Australia; where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection.

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected parties and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

6. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for up to 24 months. Customer records are kept for the life of your account plus seven years, to meet Australian tax and record-keeping requirements. After that, records are securely deleted or de-identified.

7. Cookies

This website uses only essential cookies plus Google Analytics measurement cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the site will still work normally.

8. Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first. If we can't resolve it, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at this address, with the last-updated date shown at the top. Material changes will be emailed to active customers.
