Google Drive

Google Drive set up so you can find the photo you took in March

Job photos on a phone are not a filing system. Drive gives every job a folder that syncs itself, so the certificate is there when the customer asks for it two years later.

Included from the Starter plan

Melbourne-based, on the ground across the south-east and northern suburbs, with support in Canberra and remote setup Australia-wide.

What customers actually search for

  • google drive for small business
  • where to store job photos tradie
  • share files with team google drive
  • google drive setup service australia
  • cloud storage for trade business

Every tradie has lost a photo. It was proof the pipe was already cracked, or it was the compliance certificate, and it went with the phone that got dropped off a roof. Google Drive fixes this quietly: photos upload themselves, folders follow a pattern, and anything you need is searchable from a phone on site.

The problem

What usually goes wrong

Everything lives on one phone

Lose the handset and you lose the evidence, the certificates and the before photos.

No structure

Twelve thousand photos in a camera roll is not storage, it is a haystack.

Sharing by text message

Sending forty photos over WhatsApp compresses them into uselessness and leaves no record.

Staff cannot get to anything

The apprentice on site cannot see the plan because it is in the boss inbox.

What you get

What google drive setup for tradies includes

A folder structure that holds up

Organised by year, then job, so it still makes sense when there are four hundred of them.

Phone backup turned on

Job photos upload themselves from your phone. You do not have to remember anything.

Shared drives for the team

Files belong to the business rather than to whoever created them, so nothing walks out when someone leaves.

Sensible sharing

Link sharing set up so you can send a customer their photos without giving them your whole Drive.

Naming conventions

A simple pattern for job folders that makes search actually work.

Linked to your CRM

Job folders referenced from Trimsy so the file and the job record point at each other.

FAQ

Google Drive Setup for Tradies — common questions

Not necessarily. A free Google account gets 15GB, which is enough for a sole trader keeping documents but not photos. Shared drives and real storage need Workspace, which we can also set up.

Drive if you are already on Gmail or Google Workspace. OneDrive if you are on Microsoft 365. Dropbox if you want the simplest sync and do not care which email you use. Being on the same one as your email is worth more than any feature difference.

We set uploads to Wi-Fi only by default, so photos go up when you get home rather than while you are on site burning through your plan.

Yes, via a share link for that job folder only. On the Growth plan and above the customer portal in Trimsy is usually the tidier way to do it.

Drive keeps deleted files for 30 days and shared drives keep version history, so a mistake is recoverable. We show you where that lives.
